What makes a good sports bra for padel?

Not all sports bras are made for the same sport. Running, yoga and padel put very different demands on your body. For padel, these are the features that matter most:

• A secure under-band: an elastic band under the chest keeps the bra in place when you jump, lunge and reach for a smash.
• A racerback: straps that meet between the shoulder blades give your arms and shoulders full range of motion for serves and overheads.
• Flat seams: flatlock stitching prevents chafing and irritation, even in long matches and tournaments.
• Stretch and breathability: plenty of elastane for comfort and a fabric that lets heat escape in warm halls.
• A compact fit: close to the body, so nothing moves or rubs during fast changes of direction.

It is made in Portugal from recycled Spanish fabric: ECOREC® polyester and elastane. The bra comes in dark brown, black and army, so it is easy to match with the rest of your outfit, or to wear on its own as a bra top on hot days and in the gym.

How to find the right size

The right size is the most important thing when choosing a sports bra. It should feel snug and secure, without restricting your breathing or leaving marks. The under-band should sit level all the way around and not ride up when you lift your arms. If you can easily slide more than two fingers under the band, try a smaller size. Wear it under, or wear it on its own

The Oncourt Soft Bra Top is designed to be worn under your padel top, but its clean design means you can also wear it on its own:

How long does a sports bra last?

A sports bra works hard, and over time the elastic loses some of its support. How long it lasts depends on how often you play and how you wash it. Washing at a low temperature, avoiding fabric softener and never tumble drying makes a big difference. When the under-band feels loose even on the tightest setting, or the fabric no longer springs back, it is time for a new one. Having two or three bras in rotation also extends the life of each one.

A padel bra or a running bra?

Many players ask if they can use their running bra for padel. You can, but a bra made for padel is designed around the movements of the sport: lots of overhead arm work, upper-body rotation and short, explosive steps. That is why our Soft Bra Top prioritises freedom in the shoulders and an under-band that does not ride up, rather than the maximum compression you find in a running bra.

Care tips

Wash your sports bra inside out at a low temperature, preferably in a laundry bag, and skip the fabric softener, which breaks down elastane. Let it air dry flat or on a hanger. This keeps the support, shape and colour for as long as possible.
